Classixx Remix Phoenix

“Lisztomania,” the standout single from Phoenix’s forthcoming fourth LP, is certainly ripe for remixing, and finally an official one has surfaced. In re-imagining the synthrock song for a chill discothèque LA DJ duo Classixx cut out every undeniable guitar riff, so not surprising their version doesn’t hold a candle to the original. Still, it’s fun to hear “Lisztomania” in a new light, and you could say that Classixx succeed at making “Lisztomania” even more ’80s, no easy feat. A few weeks ago we heard thirty seconds of the remix soundtracking a viral video for Kitsuné (it birthed the screengrab above, in case you were wondering). The complete track can be found 6/2 on the French fashion label’s Maison 7 comp or as a 90 second teaser now at MySpace (HT GvsB). Also worth tracking down is the Phoenix-curated Kitsuné Tabloid, a compilation of songs that inspired the band. Here’s that tracklist:
